The University of Cambridge, founded in 1209 and the second-oldest unviersity in England, will soon open its doors to tourists by offering bed and breakfast accommodations starting at Easter, according to a recent article in the London Times. Previously, only conference delegates and guests of college members could stay in the university's lodging. More information is available at the university's CambridgeRooms.co.uk web site. | B&B to Open on Site of Idaho Monastery |
|
Tucked away in an article about The Monastery of St. Gertrude in Cottonwood, Idaho, is this tidbit: "a bed and breakfast will open on the monastery grounds later this year." The monastery, built in 1919, is home to 64 Benedictine nuns. Cottonwood is about five hours north of Boise and four hours south of Spokane, Washington. Although it is unusual, this is not the only the only monastery to offer B&B-type accommodations. More than a dozen monasteries around the world are open to overnight guests. Wilmington, North Carolina, nestled in the far southeast corner of the state, is situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Cape Fear River. Margi and Doug Erickson, owners of the C.W. Worth House Bed and Breakfast -- just three blocks from the city's Riverwalk -- dreamed of becoming innkeepers since they visited several bed and breakfasts as guests. Today, they operate the seven-room inn along with their cat Simon. Learn more about their Queen Anne bed and breakfast in this
My husband and I had a great experience when we stayed at Peregrine Pointe Bed and Breakfast outside Rapid City, South Dakota. The B&B is fantastic, the innkeepers are friendly and helpful, and it's an easy drive to unforgettable sites like Badlands National Park, Custer State Park, Black Hills National Forest, and the historic town of Deadwood.
